Hello everyone!  It has been so long since I’ve written a blog post.  This two and half month hiatus was unplanned, but this break was definitely something that I needed.  I’ll be honest, before my break, I was feeling pretty invisible in the book blogger world.  Because of that, I felt like I was just writing posts I thought other people would like to read and pretty much just going through the motions.

This break has made me realize, however, that I didn’t start a blog to become “famous” or have millions of views.  I created The Calico Books as a space for me to talk about the books I’ve recently read, am currently reading, or want to read.  Yes, I’d love to reach as many people as I can and create some amazing friendships, but I also want to use this blog for me to look back and remember those books as well.  Also, while this book will still very much remain a book blog (it is called The Calico Books, after all), I think I’m going to start occasionally branching out into other topics I’m passionate about as well.

So, basically, what I’m saying is that I am back to blogging, but this time in a more authentic way and in my own time.  If you’ve stuck around during this hiatus, thank you!  I hope you’ll continue to stay connected and enjoy the future of The Calico Book as well!

  2. It’s so important to make sure you’re enjoying your book blog – it’s hard but try not to focus on the stats (although I think we all do to an extent!) I took a break in September and it definitely helps x

  5. I love this Theresa!!! I decided the same thing about my blog in reference worth books about a 8 months ago. And then I just redecided the same thing about my blog in reference to food/recipes about two days ago!
    I love to see someone realize what they are and what they are about and do it!
