Happy New Year!  Last year may not have been the best reading year for me, but of the books that I did read, so many of them were absolutely incredible.  I definitely read a few books that I can safely say are now on my list of all-time favorites.

In no particular order, my favorite books of 2019 are:

I really did not expect to love Daisy Jones and the Six nearly as much as I actually did.  This book was so well-written and unique.  It was so good! I loved it!

I love all of Sarah Dessen’s books, so I’m really not surprised The Rest of the Story is on the list.  However, this one was even more of a favorite than some of her others.  It had such a classic, YA feel and I really adored this one.

This was my first Carrie Turansky book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into this one.  No Ocean Too Wide, however was such a phenomenal read!  The characters in this novel were so well done, and oh, my heart.  I need book 2 in this series now!

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson was just the cutest read ever!  This book was so sweet and so fun.  I loved the romance, and just like all of Morgan Matson’s other books, I loved that there was more to this story than just romance.  This book focuses on grief, hope, and so much more.

All in Pieces by Suzanne Young was one of the very first books I read in 2019, and I’m STILL thinking about it!  The characters in this story were so well done.  I was so invested in their lives, and even though they weren’t perfect, you just couldn’t help but root for them and want to see them succeed.

If you’ve followed me for a bit, you probably know I love dance.  Well, not surprisingly, Tiny Pretty Things was perfect for me.  This book was so drama-filled and addictive.  Drama aside, however, the dance descriptions were so well done and accurate to ballet life.  I really enjoyed this book and want to read the sequel ASAP!

10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston was the very last book I read in 2019.  So, honestly I’m quite surprised this book is on the list.  By the end of the year, you think you have all your favorite reads picked out.  Don’t underestimate that last book!  This was such a cute and enjoyable read.  I loved the romance and the family dynamics.  10/10 would recommend!

After hearing so many good things, in 2019 I finally read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, and oh boy, what a wild ride this book was!  The characters were all so mysterious and this book was filled with so many plot twists.  I admit, this book was a little weird at times but so well written.  It’s definitely as good as everyone says.

I received a copy of The Jesus Who Surprises by Dee Brestin back in July and was just now able to read it this fall.  This is the only nonfiction book that made my favorites list, and it is one that is very deserving.  Dee Brestin writes in such a personal way, and the way she explains her life and her Christian faith is just incredible.  Also, this book was so Biblically sound and encouraging.  I really recommend this book to any Christ follower.

The final book on this list is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite of the entire year, and it is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.  Oh my word, this book absolutely hooked me in from the very first page to the very last.  From the characters, to the setting, to the storyline, to the ending, I loved every single thing about this book.  This book has received quite a lot of hype and praise and, in my opinion, every single ounce of it is deserved.  Where the Crawdads Sing is now one of my favorite books of all-time!
