Summary

Something is brewing. Like the far off rumble of a train in the distance, a rebellion is stirring. A cry for change arises in the midst of a traditional monarchy, where King Addison has inherited the throne. Who are the underground troublemakers? What is stirring their defiant banner and demand for change? Find out in The Rebellion! (The Tales of Tarsurella #2)

Vanessa Bennett lands her dream job working at the Palace in Tarsurella. She struggles to balance everything on her plate: life in a new country, stressful deadlines, crabby co-workers, college classes at the local University, and blossoming feelings of romantic adoration toward her boss–King Addison. Keeping up with her To-Do list, while trying to earn respect in Addison’s male-dominated administration, presents its challenges. Nevertheless, she can’t help but fight a reoccurring thought and the excitement rising with it: is Addison interested in her?

Addison is adjusting to his new role as King. Rumors of a rebellious uprising among the youth in Tarsurella intensifies, as acts of violence and protest break out across the city. Addison is determined to uncover the hidden instigator who fearlessly blogs democracy-driven ideals with a secretive pen name. Will Addison discover and expose the fiery rebellion leader? Or will his efforts fail to stop the rebellious thoughts spreading like wildfire, causing a heartbreaking rift in his divided nation?

What I Thought

*I received eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.  A huge thank you to the author!*

After reading The Coronation earlier this year, I was so excited to read the sequel and not only that, but be a part of the launch team.  If you read my review for The Coronation, you’ll know I loved it, and I’m so happy to say that The Rebellion did not disappoint, either!

As always, my favorite thing about Livy Jarmusch’s books are the characters!  Her characters are always so well-written and memorable, and it’s no different for The Rebellion.  I loved getting to know the royal family even more in this book.  There’s so much character growth for everyone in this novel, and as I was reading it, I honestly felt like a proud mother/sister/friend to some of these characters, and some of the choices they made.  Everyone has grown up, emotionally, so much in book 2.  I want to keep things spoiler free, but I just want to say, I especially felt this way about Bridget and Asher.  There was SO much character growth; I loved it!

Aside from all the characters I grew to love from book 1, this book also features several new characters as well!  I loved getting to know them, and every single one of them really added something to the story and made it what it was.  I’m so excited to see what happens next for them and their families in book three!

The actual plot of The Rebellion was just so intriguing, too!  I didn’t want to ever stop reading this book.  There were so many plot twists and surprises this time around, I even audibly gasped while reading it at times.  That’s all I’m going to say about that!

Also, like all of her books, Livy Jarmusch always puts her faith and values at the forefront of her books, and I always appreciate that.  There’s no fowl language or inappropriate content.  The romance in this book so clean, but still so sweet and so romantic!  The Tales of Tarsurella series is such a perfect example that you can have intense, action-packed and romance-filled books, without including edgy or sometimes questionable content.

Overall, The Rebellion makes a great addition to The Tales of Tarsurella! There’s so much action, romance, and adventure. I’m so excited for book 3! Book 2 isn’t even technically out until Tuesday, and the wait for The Wedding (#3) is already killing me!!  I would definitely recommend this book, and the entire series, to anyone looking for well-written, faith-filled YA – especially if you love royalty stories!
