End of the Year Book Tag
Hello! Can you even believe that 2018 is just about over?! That is so wild to me! This year was filled with some major ups and downs. That being said, I am hopeful that 2019 will be an amazing year. 🙂
Today I decided to the End of the Year book tag. I discovered this tag over at Pretty Purple Polka Dots by Aoife!
Okay, here we go:
Best book you’ve read in 2018
I don’t think it’s possible for me to narrow this down just to one book! I have a post coming later this week, where I share my top ten books of 2018, and that list is as close as I can get to listing a favorite.
Best sequel you’ve read in 2016
The Rebellion by Livy Jarmusch was such a great follow-up to The Coronation. I cannot wait to read book three!
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
I love the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld so much, so I really want to get to Imposters in 2019!
Biggest disappointment
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote was so disappointing. So many people are obsessed with this movie, and maybe the movie is quite different, but this book was very different than I expected. I felt disconnected from the plot and all the characters. The short stories included in the book weren’t my thing either. I don’t think Truman Capote’s writing is for me.
Biggest surprise
I have to go with Small Spaces by Katherine Arden for this one. This book completely blew me away! It was one of my favorite books of the year and was just so much more than I expected. I love it so much!
Favourite new author (debut or new to you)
Katherine Arden and Taylor Jenkins Reid were both new-to-me authors that I read in 2018 that I definitely plan on reading more of in 2019!
Newest fictional crush
I don’t really get fictional “crushes” but both Bill from Save the Date and Zach from the Illusion trilogy were such sweet, great guys and I loved reading about them!
Newest favourite character
There’s no way I could pick! I will say, though, I found Charlie and her family to be super relatable, and she reminded me a lot of me when I was 18. So, I guess I’ll go with her for this question.
Book that made you cry
My Sister’s Keeper was the biggest cry fest for me, but Save the Date and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo also had their moments!
Book that made you happy
I feel so redundant including it, but Save the Date really made me happy, too. The Way You Make Me Feel also made me happy!
Most beautiful book you bought or received this year
I won this gorgeous copy of Stories for Christmas by Charles Dickens from an Instagram giveaway, and oh my word, this book is stunning! I’m obsessed with how pretty it is!!
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I’m currently reading The Christmas Secret by Donna VanLiere, and I’d really love to have that finished up before the new year starts!
That wraps up the End of Year Book Tag! I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I would absolutely love to hear your answers. 🙂
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a safe and happy New Years! 🎉🥂
