It is day 3 of me hosting Bookending Summer 2019, and today’s post is all about summer-y reads! I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite books that remind me of summer and I want you to share some of your favorite books that remind you of and put you in a summer state of mind!  Summer is my favorite season, and so I love reading summer themed books.  So, as you can probably imagine, I’m quite excited about this prompt.

The Rest of the Story

Sarah Dessen’s latest novel, The Rest of the Story makes such an amazing summer read!  This book was so good and filled with that perfect, summer vibe.  I think it’s safe to say that The Rest of the Story has made it onto my list of favorite Sarah Dessen books.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is such a classic, summer story.  The entire series embodies summer so perfectly!  From the characters to the setting, this is one book that holds a lot of memories for me, and it will forever be a summertime favorite.

Since You’ve Been Gone

All of Morgan Matson’s books make the perfect summer reads.  Since You’ve Been Gone especially captures that summer vibe so perfectly.  With unforgettable characters, the perfect amount of adventure and mischief, as well the fact that it’s going to have you craving ice cream, this book makes a perfect addition to any summer reading list!

Holes

Holes by Louis Sachar is one of my all-time favorite books.  The movie adaptation is also one of my favorite movies of all time.  I just love this story so much!  From the setting, to the descriptions of them working in the heat, it just gives me a very summer reading vibe.  I also watch the movie nearly every summer just because it’s a favorite and I think it fits the summer months so well.

Summer Promise

The Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn is one that always reminds me of summer.  The first book in the series, Summer Promise, especially makes me think of summer!  The book is set in California and it just has that classic, summer vibe.  I love the characters in this book and series so much, it feels like we’re friends!

The Way You Make Me Feel

The perfect time to read The Way You Make Me Feel by Maurene Goo is during the summer.  This book gives me all the summer feels!  It’s such a sweet, heartfelt story, but it’s also just a lot of fun to read.
