Y’all! I loved this book!! I’ll be honest, I’ve read a lot of Beauty and the Beast retellings, so my expectations were very average. I figured I’d like the book, but I wasn’t expecting anything groundbreaking. So, just know I was so pleasantly surprised when I got hooked on this book from the very first chapter!

I don’t even know where to begin this review other than that I adored everything about this book. 😂 I loved Sadie’s perseverance, determination, and worth ethic. I loved how Otis was determined not to live the same, abusive lifestyle as his father. I loved how supportive Leon and Mildred were. Most of all, I loved Otis and Sadie’s relationship! The banter was perfect and those subtle hand touches and glances were *chef’s kiss* 10/10!! Beyond Ivy Walls is the perfect example of “if he wanted to, he would”. 🙌

Aside from the romance, there’s also a small mystery in this book regarding an unknown relative. This kept me intrigued all the way through to the end.

Another aspect of this book that I enjoyed was the setting. It’s been a while since I read an historical romance, and I forgot how much I love them! Also, I appreciated how, while this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, this is no Stockholm Syndrome romance – especially since there’s no magical elements in this one.

Overall, I loved Beyond Ivy Walls a lot! I probably won’t stop talking about this book for quite a while and I’ll be thinking about it even longer. If you like historical romances and love a good slow burn, you need to read this book!!
