Top Ten Books of 2017!

Hello! Can you even believe that it is the last day of 2017? I read so many amazing books this year, it was so hard to narrow it down just to 10. It was too hard for me to choose a top favorite, though, so I’ve decided to organize these books by read date!
Also, fair warning, this post is basically going to be me saying “I loved this book!!” over and over again. 😂🙈
Okay, without further ado, here are the top ten books that I read in 2017:
1. The You I’ve Never Known by Ellen Hopkins
This was the very first book I read this past year, and it was a great one! It was so beautifully written, the characters were so unique and diverse, and I just really loved this book.
2. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I loved this book! It was a tearjerker, but such an incredible story. The illustrations were equally beautiful.
3. Replica by Lauren Oliver
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, it will be no surprise to you to see this book made my list. I’ve gushed about Replica all year. It was just so great! I loved how unique it was.
4. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
I adored Eleanor & Park so much!! It was my first full novel that I’ve read by Rainbow Rowell, and it made me an official fan of her writing! This book made me laugh and cry, and I just loved it so much.
5. Everything Everything Nicola Yoon
While Everything Everything wasn’t perfect, I really enjoyed it! I loved the illustrations throughout, and I just loved Maddy’s character!
6. Dark Halo by Shannon Dittemore
The entire Angel Eyes trilogy was so good, but this last book in the series really blew me away! Dark Halo was such an incredible ending to an already great series!
Check out my review, for book 1, here!
7. Holes by Louis Sachar
After loving the movie for years, I finally read the book, and I’m so glad I did! Holes is so well written and well thought out. I absolutely adored this story!
8. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman
This novel was just so lovely. Backman weaved together such an incredible and emotional story, and I loved it! I can’t wait to read more of his books in 2018.
9. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
I just really, really loved Second Chance Summer! I loved the characters, the romance, the friendship, the family dynamics. I loved literally everything! I cried like a baby, and yet I still loved this book. I got it from the library, but after reading it, I really want to own a copy!
10. The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand
This book totally took me by surprise! I’m so glad I didn’t write this post ahead of time, because I literally finished it yesterday. The Afterlife of Holly Chase is proof that you never know when you will read your next favorite book. It was such a great Christmas story, and it is one I plan on rereading during future Christmases!
Honorable Mentions
- Intermission by Serena Chase
- The Auctor Trilogy by T. R. Wolf
- Once and for All by Sarah Dessen
- Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (I’m still reading this book. I hope to finish it today so I can count it for 2017!!)

A Monster Calls really is such a great book. 🙂
Yes, I adore the cover of The Afterlife of Holly Chase, too. It’s one of the reasons why I read it in the first place! 🙂

The only two I’ve read is A Monster Calls and Eleanor and Park, I love both of them. Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios is probably my number 1 read of the year.
