Top Ten Books of 2016!

Hello, and Happy New Year!  Now that 2016 has come and gone, it is finally time for me to share with you all my favorite books from the past year!  I read so many great books in 2016, so it was really hard for me to narrow it down to just 10.  These are organized based on the date I read them, not how much I loved them.

10. The 5th Wave

This book was just so good!  I ended up loving The 5th Wave way more than I expected.  I found this book to be just so gripping and action-packed.  I read it way back in January, and almost a year later, I am still thinking about this one!

9. Library of Souls

Library of Souls is the 3rd and final book in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy.  This is one of my absolute favorite series and this book was very highly anticipated for me.  When I finally was able to read it, I ended up really enjoying it. I felt like it was just one of the best endings to a series I had read in long time!

8. Safe Haven

This was my first Nicholas Sparks book, and while I’ve heard mixed things about his books, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.  It was fun and romantic, but also tense and action-packed.  I flew through this book, because once I started reading it, I could not stop!

7. Room

This. Book!  Room was so incredible.  Written in such a unique, profound way, it will be a long time before I forget about this beautiful novel.  So emotional, and raw, I really loved this book.

The movie is phenomenal as well!

6. Passenger

Passenger is such a captivating novel!  It’s so adventurous, and so fun.  I cannot wait to read the sequel, Wayfarer, which comes out today, actually!

5. Fahrenheit 451

I absolutely love Ray Bradbury’s writing style! Not only is Fahrenheit 451 so beautifully written, but it is such an incredible story.  Even though it was written over 50 years ago, it is still very relevant in today’s day and age.  It is one of those books that really just allows you to appreciate books and the written word.

4. Me Before You

I’m going to be honest, I did not expect Me Before You to make my top ten list.  I have had issues with this book since before I even read it.  I almost didn’t read it, because I disagree with what happens in this novel (sorry I’m so vague, but I don’t want to spoil anything, and if you’ve read the book you’ll know what I’m talking about).  That being said, this book sucked me in.  I read it so fast and found it so beautiful.  I absolutely loved Lou, and while I’ve heard mixed things about the sequel, I definitely plan to read it this year.

I didn’t want to fall in love with this book.  I tried really hard not to have that happen, but it didn’t work! I read this book back in July, and I still find myself thinking about the characters and their lives!

3. Someone Like You

Oh, how I love Sarah Dessen novels!  They are so much more than just YA romance, and Someone Like You is no exception.  It is quite easily in my top 5 Sarah Dessen novels of all time.

2. The Program

The Program is another book I did not expect I would see on this list before I read it!  I had this book on my shelf for a couple years before finally deciding to read it.  It is one of the best dystopian novels that I have read in a long time.  It was super intriguing and completely drew me.  I really need to get the sequel soon!

So fun and mysterious, I just had to include Hotel Ruby!  I completely enjoyed this book from beginning to end.  I never had any idea on what was going to happen next.  It was spooky, clever, and so enjoyable!

  1. I LOVE The Program! That’s definitely one of my favorite series, although I need to catch up with the prequel series’ latest release. I read Safe Haven a few years ago when I was in high school and in my Nicholas Sparks obsession phase, haha. It’s definitely one of my favorites from him. There’s a movie adaptation too although I don’t remember if I ever actually watched it, haha.

  2. The whole Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs was a bit too slow for me. I’m glad that you loved it. The third book was definitely the best out of the whole series. I loved Me Before You by Jojo Moyes! It was such a beautiful book and I think the ending was the best ending it could be for both Louisa and WIll.

    • I can definitely see how you found the Miss Peregrine series to be too slow. I think you have to be really invested in the story, otherwise it does feel slow. And the chapters are so long! I’m glad you loved Me Before You, too!! 😍😊

  3. I’ve been wanting to read Fahrenheit 451! I really need to get to that one😂😊 One of my favorite reads of 2016 is the In Between series by Jenny B. Jones! It’s hilarious and lovely and I definitely recommend it😁😂
