Christmas Countdown – #6
It’s that time of year again!! I’m so excited to be bringing back my Countdown to Christmas blog series this year! For those of you new to the blog, Countdown to Christmas is a weekly feature where I recommend a different Christmas-y book each week to read this holiday season.
My first pick for 2017 is What Light by Jay Asher.
Sierra’s family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon—it’s a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.
Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.
By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb’s past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.
What Light is a love story that’s moving and life-affirming and completely unforgettable.

What Light is such a lovely and festive holiday read! It is one of those books that gives you that Christmas-y warm and fuzzies feeling. It just has that all-around Christmas atmosphere. The characters in this book are great and I loved the sweet romance. Not only did I love the romantic love, but the love between friends and family was so nice and prevalent as well. I really appreciated the overall theme of love and forgiveness in this novel. I read this book last year, and I am really hoping to reread it again this year! Also, if you’d like to hear more about my thoughts about What Light, I posted a complete review back in January. You can check it out here!
