Hello and Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans! 🎆 Today is also my first day as a host for Bookending Summer 2019. I am so excited to be hosting for the next four days! I loved being a host last spring, and I just know that this time is going to be even better. 😁
Today’s prompt is inspired by the fact that today is the 4th of July. I’ll be sharing books that fill me with pride for America and books that just give me a very distinctive, American vibe. For those of you not in the US, I’d love to see which books remind you of and fill you with pride for your country!
Without further ado, let’s begin!

ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: Midnight on the River Grey
Author: Abigail Wilson
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Release Date: July 2, 2019

She knew the house was keeping secrets. If only the darkness would speak . . .
After her elder brother’s mysterious death, Rebecca Hunter vows to expose the man she believes responsible: Mr. Lewis Browning—known by the locals as the Midnight Devil and by Rebecca as her new guardian.
Summoned to his reclusive country estate to await her London season, Rebecca plans her own secret investigation among the darkened corridors of the mysterious Greybourne Hall. Yet Lewis Browning is not as she once imagined, and his motivation is horribly unclear. Recurrent nightmares and Rebecca’s restless feelings are further complicated by the shadow of her mother’s prior descent into madness and wondering if she, too, will follow the same heartbreaking path.
Even as midnight rides, strange injuries, and further murders lead back to Mr. Browning, Rebecca can’t ignore the subtle turn of her heart. Has she developed feelings for the man she swore to see hanged? And moreover, can she trust him with her uncertain future?

As many of you probably already know, I love Christmas so much! So, when I received Ornamental Graces for review, I was quite excited. I’m a sucker for a Hallmark Christmas movie, and this book sounded just like one. While I ended up enjoying this one just as much as any Hallmark movie, it was so much more than that, too!

Hi friends! Today I’m back with my April wrap-up, and in true Theresa fashion, we’re already halfway through May. Will I ever post a wrap-up on time? Who knows! Stay tuned…😂
As you all can probably guess from my lack of blog posts last month, I didn’t have a great reading month either. I ended up only reading two books. I realize that’s still two books to celebrate, but I was hoping for more. Regardless, I really enjoyed both of the books I read last month!
Title: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
Page: 384
Publisher: G. P. Putnam’s Sons (Aug. 14th, 2018)
Summary
For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.
Perfect for fans of Barbara Kingsolver and Karen Russell, Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.
This book. This book!! I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to reviewing Where the Crawdads Sing. I’ll be honest, I only read this book because everyone on Bookstagram talked about this book daily. I barely even knew what it was about, but I knew it must be good because the library waiting list was huge!! 😂 Where the Crawdads Sing was one of the best books I’ve read in a very, very long time. It is truly deserving of every ounce of hype and praise it has received!
